What to expect

Zostrix temporarily, but effectively blocks severe nerve pain, unlike other medications or creams that merely mask pain. To allow Zostrix to build up effectiveness by depleting the amount of Substance P at the site of pain, managing expectations is key. At the beginning, an initial burning or tingling sensation will be felt upon application for the first few days. With continued use, Zostrix relieves the nerve pain caused by arthritis, post-herpetic neuralgia, and diabetic neuropathy between weeks 2 and 5 of consistent application. A little cream, applied often, is the rule to follow.

Zostrix works gradually to target nerve pain at its source.

After starting treatment, some may feel a mild burning or tingling for the first few days. Within 2 weeks, many experience initial pain relief, with further improvement between weeks 2–5. With consistent use, Zostrix helps provide lasting relief from persistent nerve pain.
